NEWS

March 2025 - U11 Lions Cup Winners

Well done to our U11 Lions who recently won their Rother Cup Final against Wickersley Red in a nail biting 4-3 victory !

January 2025 - RIP Steve Rhodes

The club is very sad to announce the death of Steve Rhodes, a team coach for the U14s Rangers boys’ team. Steve died on January 17th after the recurrence of an illness. He had been involved with the team, where his son Leo plays in goal, since its first season at U8s.

A headteacher by day, Steve combined his experience and expertise as an educator with his love of football to great effect when coaching the team. He was a tremendous source of guidance and support not only to the boys but also to his fellow team coaches.

Nether Green Rangers and all other Nether Green teams will be holding a minute’s applause in tribute to Steve before their next matches.

Our thoughts are with Emma, Leo and the rest of the family at this sad time.

July 2024 - U9 Thunder Tournament Success !

Our U9 Thunder competed in a couple of tournaments in Brampton and Eckington recently winning silverware in both. Excellent progress by the team

June 2024 - U11's runners up

Our U11's competed in the Brinsworth Tournament and finished runners up over the weekend, only losing on penalties in the final ! Great effort boys.

June 2024 - Forging links with a local charity

This season our U13 Juniors decided to place the logo of the local charity WORK Ltd on their away/training shirts to forge closer links between the football club and the charity that supports adults with learning disabilities close to our home pitches. The team visited the charity last week for their end of season presentation evening. When the shirts eventually become too small they will be donated to the charity to be sold or worn by the students

June 2024 - Goodbye & Thanks To Our U17 Gold

As we say goodbye to our U17 Gold, the club would like to put on record its thanks to Neil, Arooj and Juan for their amazing amount of volunteering time over the years, taking this team through all the age groups. A great achievement which they should all be proud of. A message from the managers,

After seven years, we’ve finally decided to call it a day as a competitive team. We started off as a new team in the bottom division and worked our way up to Division B, via a division play-off final where we impressed the spectating FA officials so much that they promoted us above the team we lost against in the final! It’s been incredible to share this journey with a group of wonderful lads who began as small boys and turned into young men. We’re so proud of our players – not just the original core players but those who joined us along the way and bought into our way of playing and behaving (technical mastery, working hard for each other, being respectful, treating effort and winning in the right way as more important than winning at all costs). Every time we became sad or disappointed at players leaving, new players came along who worked incredibly hard to hone their skills and integrate, and ended up developing the team in ways we couldn’t have imagined. A big thank you to our parents for giving so much to the team too, whether providing constructive feedback, offering lifts, helping with nets and warm-ups on match days, selling raffle tickets, running the tuck shop or supporting social events. Finally, a big thank you also to the Nether Green committee; in some ways it feels a shame to be leaving just when things are really looking up for the club in terms of organisation and initiatives. We’ll miss you all.

Neil, Arooj and Juan

May 2024 - U13 Juniors League Presentation Night

Last night our U13 Juniors attended the official league presentation night, where they were presented with the league trophy, a great night was had by all players and parents, well done boys !

May 2024 - U14 Gold Promoted

Congratulations to our U14 Gold, finishing 3rd and being promoted to Division B next season, what a great achievement.

April 2024 - U13 Juniors Win League Title

Congratulations to our U13 Juniors, they won promotion and the league title. Having only lost one game all season and finished runners up in the league cup, its been a great season for these boys. Well done to all those involved including the parents who have been very supportive.

April 2024 - Recruiting a new Development Coach

We are looking to recruit a couple of new Development coach's for our 5-7 year olds for 1 hour per week. These are players with mixed playing abilities who need fun sessions but at the same time improve their football skills in preparation for team formation before they are 8. If you are interested in this role please contact the club.  If you haven't had coaching experience before we can help support and progress you quickly to the level required.

March 2024 - New player recruitment open for FS2 & Y1 players

We are looking to recruit boys and girls to join our Development Squad at school ages FS2 or Y1, starting after Easter. The Development Squad helps us create future Nether Green teams to enter the leagues once the players reach school age Y3. We offer both boys and girls separate sessions. Please contact the club if you are interested in joining us, Sunday mornings at 10am

February 2024 - New container arrives

After obtaining planning permission and an FA grant to fund 75% of the cost, the club invested in a second container to safely and securely store all our portable goals. Each container now contains corner flags, respect barriers and the goals, the single storage place for "match day" setup.

January 2024 - Car parking improved

With the help of managers Ben and Jonathan along with parents Matthew, David and Giovanni, they managed to make some quick running repairs to the Common Lane car park filling in holes and making a solid base foundation for the arrival of our new container next month. 10 tonnes of hardcore moved, back breaking !
